Britney Spears' Father Files to End her Conservatorship 

In February 2008, Britney Spears was deemed "unable to care for herself or manage her own finances," thus entering into a conservatorship under her father, Jamie Spears. For the past 13 years, Britney's father has made most of the decisions regarding her career and other aspects of her life, including her finances. It wasn't until a few years ago that her fans speculated that her performances and medical decisions were not of her own making. The #freebritney movement began to highlight Britney's life under her conservatorship and how her freedom may have been hindered because of it. Britney even began to support the movement herself. The movement led to the New York Times documentary Framing Britney Spears in February of 2021. In June of 2021, Britney made a rare court appearance to address her conservatorship and include details about her life since the conservatorship began.

Currently, on Twitter, news broke that her father has asked the judge to end the Conservatorship. There have been posts spreading the information and sharing her lawyer's thoughts on her father's decision.

According to Britney's Lawyer, "it appears that Mr. Spears believes he can try and avoid accountability and justice."

There was even a post made by one of Britney's friends, Paris Hilton, encouraging her and sharing a quote from her podcast regarding the news.

There is one thing for certain, this news is a massive step forward for Britney and the #freebritney movement. Britney, as well as her fans, will be waiting for the judge's decision going forward. This case has a long history and it is refreshing to see a conclusion that is in the best interest of Britney and her future.
