Magnolia Christmas Parade and SAU Celebration of Lights
Magnolia's annual Christmas parade and SAU's Celebration of Lights will take place on December 2, 2021.
The parade, themed "Songs of the Season," will begin at 5 p.m. The parade will start around Calhoun Street and proceed around the square and down North Jackson Street before breaking up at the SAU Reynold's parking lot.
The festivities on the SAU campus will take place in the evening. At 3 p.m., a showing of "The Polar Express" can be viewed in Foundation Hall, along with two more showings at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Families will have the opportunity to take photos with Santa in Reynold's parking lot from 6-8 p.m. There will be rides located in the campus mall and available to ride from 4-8 p.m. In Magale Library, Mrs. Claus will be hosting a storytime at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7 p.m. Free storybooks will be available while supplies last.
The events will continue in front of Overstreet Hall following the arrival of the Christmas parade. Following the parade, the Residence Hall Association will begin the lighting celebration. There will be refreshments and medleys performed by the SAU Band. After the parade winners are announced, everyone is welcome to enjoy the festivities in the Reynolds Center, where the annual holiday buffet dinner will take place from 6-8 p.m. Adult tickets are $9.50, and children between the ages of 5 to 12 eat for $4.50. The annual festivities that occur this time of year are special to the Magnolia and SAU communities. There will be a lot to enjoy Thursday evening for adults and kids alike.
